Unlike a series circuit, a parallel circuit is a circuit having two or more independent paths from the voltage source, passing through the circuit elements to return back to the source. In this type of two or more circuit elements are connected between the same pair of nodes, which have the same tension. If more elements are connected in parallel, they will still receive the same voltage, but forced the source to generate more power. This is the great advantage of the circuits in parallel with respect to the circuits in series, if a melted or removed elemnto such as a bulb, the circuit will continue to operate for the operation of the other elements.
As shown in the chart below two 60 W bulbs are connected in parallel with the source of alternating voltage of 120 V.
